Meet Our Staff
Ms. Jenny – Assistant Teacher
Hello, my name is Ms. Jenny. I’m an assistant teacher here at Mindhaven Academy and currently a college student at MCC. I’m thrilled to be part of such an incredible team. I’m passionate about creating a space where learning, strong relationships, and accomplishment shine.
Favorites: Pink lemonade, tamales, mint ice cream, crafts, and the movie Under the Same Moon
Fun Facts: I have a 3-year-old Pomeranian, love making desserts, and I’m bilingual.
Ms. Amya – Assistant Teacher
Hi, I’m Ms. Amya! I have four years of experience in childcare and recently earned my AA degree from CLC. I’m currently preparing to attend Northeastern Illinois University for my bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education. I’m so excited to be a part of your child’s learning journey at Mindhaven Academy!

Fun Facts: I studied abroad in Ireland, love hiking and concerts, and I’m learning to play piano!
Mrs. Laine – Teacher
Hi, I’m Mrs. Laine! My love for early childhood education began at a young age. I find it incredibly rewarding to help children grow, learn, and discover the world around them. At Mindhaven Academy, I strive to help each unique child explore their potential in new and creative ways.

Ms. Allie – Teacher
Hello! I’m Ms. Allie, your child’s guide to a year filled with learning and growth. I have years of experience in early childhood classrooms and as a mom of four daughters. I’m honored to help families make Mindhaven Academy a home away from home for their kids.
Favorites: Detroit Lions, Hobby Lobby, animals, and Ikea
Fun Facts: I’m the only one in my family with green eyes, played travel basketball and softball, and lived in Florida for two years.
Ms. Ava – Teacher
I believe kids have an incredible impact on our future, and I’m here to create joyful memories and fun adventures for every child at Mindhaven Academy.
Favorites: Blue, chocolate, apple juice
Fun Facts: I play volleyball, love butterflies, and play the piano.
Ms. April – Teacher
Hi, I’m Ms. April! I’ve been a mom for 25 years and an educator for over 20 years. I recently graduated from MCC with an AAS in Early Childhood Education. Teaching is my passion, and I love spending time with my family when I’m not in the classroom. I’m excited to meet you and your child and create meaningful learning experiences at Mindhaven Academy!
Favorites: Painting, puzzles, Dallas Cowboys, spending time with kids, beaches, and Florida
Fun Facts: My house transforms into a Grinch-themed wonderland starting November 1st. I’m also an April Fools’ baby with a twin brother—his wife’s name is April, too!
Ms. Kay – Teacher
Hello, everyone! My name is Ms. Kay, and I’m an aspiring and enthusiastic teacher eager to embark on my teaching journey. I’m thrilled to be part of Mindhaven Academy and can’t wait to create a welcoming and exciting space for our young learners to grow and thrive.
Favorites: Strawberry milk, Big Bang Theory, traveling, Jane Austen novels, and sloths
Fun Facts: I was born in Seoul, Korea. I enjoy crocheting (I recently completed a large blanket), playing chess, and celebrating my two birthdays!
Ms. Brianna – Teacher
Hi, I’m Ms. Brianna! I’m thrilled to join Mindhaven Academy this year as an assistant teacher. I bring three years of experience in childcare and as a private nanny, along with my ongoing studies in Early Childhood Education. I’m passionate about creating fun and engaging learning opportunities for kids, and I can’t wait to help your child grow and thrive.
Favorites: Green, Uno, horses, sour candy, and fall
Fun Facts: I have a small “zoo” at home with two cats, two dogs, and a bunny. I love cooking, baking, and am currently learning to play the guitar.
Ms. Kellie Mahoney – Director
Hello, Mindhaven families! I’m Ms. Kellie, the director at Mindhaven Academy. I’ve worked in early childhood education since 2002, including 15 years as a teacher at my previous center. I earned my CDA in early childhood at Roosevelt University and have always dreamed of being a full-time assistant director. Mindhaven Academy has given me the opportunity to make that dream come true!
